Burning the Midnight Oil

They said that a normal guy should spend at least 7 – 9 hours sleeping. Establishing such habit will provide numerous health benefits in return. I wish I could have this kind of healthy routine, however, I do have a sleeping disorder. I am an insomniac and I really find it difficult to fall asleep or to keep myself asleep for more than 7 hours. I used to stay up too late at night and manage to sleep at around 8am to 10 am in the morning. I used to have 4-5 hours sleep and that’s the maximum number of hours I got everyday.

I really don’t know how did I acquire such sleeping disorder. We do not have any history of Insomnia in the family so I really don’t have any idea where did I get this but if there’s any way to get rid of it, I will certainly try my best to keep myself away from such an unhealthy sleeping habit.

They said that Insomnia can be one of the side effects if you’re taking some sort of medications like pain relievers or any related medicine. But since I am not taking any, I might have to exclude this reason. They said that it can also be an indication or symptoms of a serious disease like Alzheimer, Asthma, Arthritis and various heart-related diseases. People who have such disorder are often those people who suffer from depression which really make sense to me. I’ve been dealing with my depression for quite awhile so this might be the reason behind this sleeping disorder of mine.

Having an Insomnia is not that bad actually. In fact, I took advantage of it by working in call center companies in which shift are always in graveyard. I managed to stay awake at night and deliver my service enthusiastically. There’s a treatment of course. Insomnia is not a permanent disorder and you can get rid of it by learning how to discipline yourself. Manage your time well to improve your sleeping habit. You can take some sleeping aid or supplements but that’s optional. You have to make sure that you are dealing with a well trusted product before taking anything. In addition to that, you can try those relaxation therapy or better yet, simply listen to soft and soothing songs at night.

Right now, I somehow manage to sleep a bit early. Hopefully, this will improve more.
