It came to me by surprise to see this black window after turning my PC on last week. I am not a techie guy to determine exactly what it is but i know the fact that something went wrong with my PC. I used to get BSOD or Blue Screen of Death because of some memory failures but this one is something I am really not familiar of and I was so tense that time because I keep getting the same screen after manually restarting my PC for about 3-4 times. Then I decided to open the system unit case (CPU or Tower in layman’s term). I tried reseating the memory, hoping that it has something to deal with it. I tried refitting all the cables as well including the cable that connects the Hard Disk to my motherboard, same thing with the one that connects the DVD ROM. I’m not sure if i did it right but you can’t blame me, i was too desperate that time haha. Even though this is a newly buy PC, and still under warranty , the shop is way too far from my place and I encountered the problem at around 3 in the morning. Believe it or not, after rebooting my PC, it actually worked! I was like jumping out from my chair after seeing the Windows Logo haha.
Of course it took me first to a screen stating that Windows Failed to Start and blah blah blah which gave me options on how I want the PC to start. I chose the “Safe Mode with Networking” first so i can check if it has something to deal with a certain software. I was able to start the windows into safe mode and as expected, the interface is quite different and the icons are quite big compare to the usual ones. I remove all the ‘Start Up” programs and other programs that might cause the problem and restarted my PC again. After rebooting, here comes a new window popping up on the middle with a “Start Up Repair” (image right) title on the upper left. It loads automatically and even though there’s a cancel button, i’m afraid it will just make the condition worst if i stop it. According to some forums, Windows Start Up Repair is a system recovery tool that comes up with Windows 7 that can fix certain problems such as missing or damaged system files that might prevent windows from starting correctly. You can perform it manually by setting it at the “System Recovery Options” menu or you can even install one on your hard Disk. However, System Repair can’t fix hardware issues such as failing disk or incompatible memory and even virus programs. Actually, after diagnosing the problem, the Start Up Repair failed to verify the real issue which wasted most of my time in waiting. I should have canceled it on the first place because it’s not really helpful at all. Maybe it works on other occasions but not with my PC problem. Anyway, i think what happened in my PC last week is some sort of a hard ware issue which is not good at all considering that all parts of my PC is brand new. I am hoping that it would be the last Hard Disk error i will be receiving. One of my colleagues told me to buy a “Boot CD” to prevent any further damage on my PC.
