Making Cuchinta

I remember my late Grandma used to cook us Kutsinta (Cuchinta) every special occasion. It is one of the famous Filipino Delicacies along with Suman and other Kakanin. It is usually paired up with “Puto” or rice cake. Well, making Cuchinta isn’t that hard to do especially if you have steamer at home. All you need to make Cuchinta are the following: All purpose flour, lye, brown sugar, food color and grated coconut. Simply blend all the ingredients except for the grated coconut. Mix them until smooth and free from lumps. Boil the water for the steamer. Then fill half of the small muffin pans and put them in the steamer for about 10 to 25 minutes, and then serve it with grated coconut or coco jam
