Mobile Phones Can Cause Cancer?

We are now in the modern world and i will not be surprised to know that almost everyone in this world have their own cellular phones. Yesterday, my fellow classmates and i had an intense debate regarding about the harmful effect of cellular phone. I am on the negative site, depending that cellphone has harmful effects to humans. Though i am actually in-favor with the opposite group, i have no choice because it is my teacher who assigned me to be a part of the negative group. The issue that using mobile phones can cause cancer has been the topic of out longstanding debate. Well, it is true that many studies have been conducted to prove and disprove claims regarding their connection. From time to time. from time to time the public is presented with evidence of new found links. The technological advancement of mobile phones has increase exponentially and the same can be said about the innovative procedures developed to treat the world’ most killer disease~ Cancer. But it is still uncertain whether mobile phones can really cause cancer.

There is a theory suggesting that the excessive and abusive use of mobile phones is associated with an increased risk of certain types of cancer. This is because mobile phones emit what we called Radio Frequency energy (thanks to my chemistry teacher for this information), which is a form of electromagnetic radiation. They emit electromagnetic waves or signal, which they claim by others to be the reason of higher cancer risk for users.

While other people were telling that it may also because of the position of the mobile phone when used. When a person uses his cellphone to call, the antenna used to pick up signal is placed near the brain. It is believed that RF energy emitted during conversation affects  a person’s brain. As a result, frequent and excessive use of cell phone will increase the risk of developing tumor in the brain.

Over the years, there have been claims and counterclaims regarding this issue. Each time, public is presented in valid and supported arguments (just like what we did) . The use of mobile phones is relatively new. Its popularity does not date back to more than two decades, so long-term effects that are suggested by many researchers  are quite questionable (oops, i think i am giving a thumbs up for my opponent here)

However, we can’t overlook the fact that wireless technology is evolving. the number of hands-free devices are increasing, which may contribute to a variation of radiation exposure. Cellphones are not the only source of this radiation. There are other devices that may as well play a big role in this issue. Additional research are needed to put the issue to rest. But while there’s still ongoing debate, we can take precautions and use the device properly.
